Designing for Global Licensed Brands

Working across licensed collections for Barbie™ and Moomin®, I developed products that balanced creative design with the technical and commercial requirements of global licensing. My role spanned the entire product development process, from print composition and colour development through to packaging, technical specifications, campaign assets and launch materials.

For the Barbie™ collection, I created original print designs using archive Mattel artwork, developing repeat and placement prints across six products including sleepwear, accessories and scarves. Alongside the collection, I designed the supporting packaging, technical CADs, product specifications and launch assets for e-commerce, email marketing and digital campaigns. Every element was prepared for approval through Mattel's licensing process, requiring close attention to brand guidelines and artwork usage. The collection sold out within its first week, requiring a restock and gained celebrity and influencer visibility. Selected products were subsequently bought by Anthropologie, while the Barbie scarf was later commissioned and stocked by the Design Museum.

For the Moomin® collection, I developed bespoke prints by combining Karen Mabon's illustrations with original Moomin artwork to create repeat patterns, scarf layouts and coordinated colourways across homeware and accessories. I also designed the packaging, technical specifications and launch assets, before art directing and photographing the homeware collection to support its launch across digital channels.

Together, these projects demonstrate my ability to translate established brand identities into commercially successful product collections while navigating complex licensing approvals, maintaining creative integrity and delivering cohesive customer experiences from product concept through to launch.
